What would you do, if you had all the time in the world?
What would you do, if you had all the money in the world?
Deepak Chopra
This newsletter is very different from every newsletter, we have published before. It’s a very personal story and it hasn’t been easy to decide whether to publish it or not. A lot of healing was necessary to enable myself to face possible rejections as I am publishing these lines. At the same time, I trust that most of you will understand my motivation to do so. My motivation is pure and truthful and I hope to find your understanding and support. I would not have written this text, if both, Imke and I weren’t convinced that the solutions pointed out in this newsletter are real and help us to make the world a better place for a lot of people.
Thank you!
Thorsten Heimann
I had the honor and pleasure to meet Deepak Chopra at a conference in Colorado last summer. And by answering the above questions for myself, I found the biggest gift, I have ever found – apart from living with my family: I found the PURPOSE of my life. I took about an hour in meditation to receive the answer to the questions what to do, if I had all the time and money in the world. I was quite surprised at first, but later, thinking about it, everything I have done in my life, all the experiences I made, beautiful ones, painful ones, prepared me to become able to do, what I would do:
I would do Energy Healing work with children, who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness.
I was so surprised. I went back into meditation and again, I received the same answer. Never would I have thought, this would be the answer to Chopra’s questions for me. In receiving these answers I felt quiet, calm and deeply touched by the trust that I felt being put upon my shoulders.
Since I asked those questions, months have past. For a little while, I haven’t really thought about those answers anymore. Life got in the way. Bills, mortgage payments, cleaning, tidying up, emails etc. etc. With the beginning of the economic crisis, the number of clients in our practice dropped rapidly. In April/May of the past year we had to make a decision to find another source of income, which we found. It’s enough to cover our current bills. This income plus the income from clients, we currently see, doesn’t allow for anything extra – especially not practising healing work for children, which will involve travel and time. As you remember, one of the questions contained the part, if I had all the money in the world. I don’t want to charge money from those families. Even today, as some of you might know, our regular rates are between $100 and $175 per session, but if somebody can’t afford our rates, they can pay what they can and some of them just can’t afford to pay at all. And that’s totally o.k. From a business perspective it’s crazy, I know, but money should come from where it is now. If it’s not with people needing healing, it won’t come from them. So, how can I create a flow of income to live purposefully, to work with these children?
The Summer past and at the beginning of Fall, we were introduced into another business opportunity: Distribution of Healthy Chocolate. Being somewhat addicted to chocolate myself – I ate a 100 gram bar as a snack within a couple of minutes almost daily – I definitely liked the idea of chocolate being available in a healthy format: no raffinated sugars, no waxes, no preservatives etc. Downside to this business – and that’s how I thought about it at that time – it’s distributed through Network Marketing. OH MY GOD! Pestering people, loosing friends, selling? I couldn’t and didn’t want to. However, we started eating the chocolate and some time later, after we were introduced into the product and experienced it’s health benefits ourselves – loosing weight, smoother skin, generally more energy – we heard that this product will be distributed in Germany starting April 2010. That thought sparked all of a sudden an interest to thoroughly research the Network Marketing industry. As some of you might know, I used to work as a Research Associate at a university in Germany and was also involved in a couple of research projects here in Canada. So, I systematically researched the industry, found a number of criteria to critically analyze individual companies.
What I didn’t know about Network Marketing was that one creates residual income. Residual income is an income that still pays, even if you don’t actively work for the company anymore, like for example an author, who gets royalties from books she wrote a decade ago. So, I could spend two years doing Network Marketing while I am still working with clients and then focus on our Healing work with children and would still have an income from Network Marketing! Wow! Then, there is potential to earn a lot of money, which means, we could even travel to those families rather than ‘just’ being able to support ones locally. I was and I still am thrilled!
However, I did my due diligence first. People, who know me a bit closer, know, if I do something, I do it very thoroughly or I don’t even start. The most important criteria and questions analyzing a Network Marketing company I found, were:
- Reputation of the company
- Management’s experience
- Product must be highly consumable in order for people to continue to use and buy it
- Compensation plan must allow distributors to pass sponsors doing not as good of a job
- Excellent training tools and materials available at no cost
- Excellent communication between high ranked and low ranked distributors
- Distributors are allowed to give out information to people, who haven’t signed up yet
- Distributors should be allowed to tell the truth about their current income
Other, more personal criteria were:
- Product must be healthy
- Product must be used by myself anyway
- High ethics within the company and
- Environmental-friendly practices in its production
All of the above is given with the company, we signed up for. It’s name is MXI Corp. The product line is called Xocai, the products are Healthy Chocolates and Energy Drinks. Most of their products are certified by Health Canada to support cardio-vascular health and lots of people report about other health benefits they have experienced.
We have started our own distribution company: www.thehealthychocolate.biz. We have learned that Network Marketing is a valid business model. There is training and learning involved. It’s a time commitment. The more time you spend, the more you’ll gain. However, if you just have 1 – 2 hours per week, you can still join in and create an income stream. You have total flexibility – how you work it, when you work. It’s YOUR company. The most important thing, we have learned so far is, it is NOT AT ALL about selling. It’s about training and educating people, building a team and learning from each other. And that’s what we have started to do. We share a business concept, garnished with a piece of healthy Belgian chocolate. (Did I mention it tastes delicious, too?)
